Big News!

I have big news. I have a new job! I interviewed for a job with the FAA in October. It was my first job interview in like eight years. When I left I kept going over and over the interview and all the things that I thought I did wrong. I got an email about two weeks later (in November) offering me the job. I read through the email four times before I understood what it was. I had expected a call not an email. I called my mom and sister and had to read it to them to make sure I was reading it correctly. I was ecstatic, in shock, and speechless. I haven't written about it yet because I was waiting for my clearance to go through. I finally got word that I will start on January 19th.

I will be an instructional designer, designing courses, both online and face to face, for people who do security checks on airplanes. (At least that's what I think I will be doing.) No, I won't get any flight privileges (bummer!) but I think I will be learning a lot! I might occasionally be going to Oklahoma (wow :)) and the Florida (yeah!) They wanted me to start earlier, but I was planning on taking off three weeks for Christmas so I negotiated for that date. I am really excited about the new opportunity and also very nervous!!! I have worked at Mason for a little over nine years so this will be a huge change for me. I will miss so many things and probably things I hadn't even thought about. I will be working in Herndon which will be nice because I won't have to commute to DC. Herndon is to the west of DC so it will be an opposite commute (more the most part.) I'll keep you posted on how it's going.

I am so excited for you. I sure hope it goes well!

When Bil got his new job, they emailed him, too and it totally threw me. I had to read and reread the email to make sure I read it right, just like you. It was so strange for me that they used email for a job offer, but I guess that is the way now...
