My birthday is December 8th. For some reason I prefer even numbers so I have always been happy I was born on an even month, an even day, and an even year--even though there's a seven in it. :) I wanted to do a half year birthday this year because it always seems like we have to fit my birthday in to all of the other celebrations. I also wanted to do something unique and I thought it would be too hard to do that in December. Well, time just got away with me this year (as usual) so we did not do a half year birthday. Maybe next year. :)

Karen (my housemate) surprised me with my own beach oasis for my birthday. She made me breakfast including an omelet and a smoothy. She also had someone make me a mink cake. Yum!!! She heated the sand so I could sit in my beach chair, listen to ocean waves, and enjoy the sand in between my toes. It was so thoughtful and sweet of her!!!

My friends and I met in DC for dinner at Gordon Biersch. It is in an old bank so it has high ceilings and a lot of ambiance. It was so fun! I so enjoy hanging out with my friends and when gifts are thrown in all the better. :) (he, he) Above is Melinda, me and Melissa.

After dinner some of us went to the National Christmas tree. It is tradition to do this on my birthday. (Usually it's the only time we can go.) This year they added Santa's workshop. I loved the little cubbyholes with letters. It was sleeting outside (total ice) so we were basically the only people there.

Here we are with Santa--no wait :). Melissa, Santa, Tiff, Melinda and me. I so appreciated my friends going to the trees with me. Melissa doesn't even like going to the trees and she still went despite the weather. We had such a good time. The sleet made it feel like we were being really adventurous. We laughed about that. :)

Here is the National Tree this year. It was extremely simple, but was pretty with all of the white lights.

Melinda, Tiff, Melissa, and I. We would quickly put our umbrellas down when we took photos. :) It was a really nice birthday.
A friend took me out to dinner the next night. He was going to take me to McCormicks and Schmicks which I love. When we got to the restaurant and sat down we were at Clydes instead of McCormicks. I thought it was so funny. We left the restaurant and went to McCormicks. I think it's always things like that that makes things more interesting.

Darn it! I thought of you this week, because I was pretty sure your birthday was sometime this week (I thought it was the 9th or 10th) and I was going to email you and then I totally forgot. I'm sorry!!
When you get the chance, could you email me your address? Thanks.
I know exactly what you mean about birthdays. Mine is even closer to Christmas and I never seem to be able to do something really fun and unique because it is so close to Christmas. Bil wants to do a half birthday for me in June, but we always forget. Oh, well....
So sad to miss this - next year?
