Pumpkin Fun

Julie had a pumpkin party last weekend. We carve pumpkins, ate yummy stew, mom's famous rolls (made by Julie), and other pumpkin/squash treats. Pictured above is our creations. Mine is in the picture below.
I had never used the cut out kind of design. I decided to try something different. I chose the one that says trick or treat and has a pumpkin and a bat. Very cute!
Here I am using the little pumpkin tool to carve out my design. It was time consuming and I think that drawing on the design might be a little better. It was still fun to try something new and I would totally do it again.

This week has been a really horrible eating week. I recorded the CBS show Sunday Morning today and am watching it as I'm writing this and it's all about obesity and not eating correctly. What I would like to figure out is how to keep that drive to stay on track and not eat the twenty cookies just because they are there. It has something to do with the brain. I've been talking to my friend Patty and she agrees that it's all about emotions. I wish that I could do something else with my emotions instead of eat them. I had been doing really well, but then I wasn't losing anything so I just feel like I have just been giving up. Tomorrow is a new day though and a new week so my plan is being in charge of what I put in my mouth.

My friend Carrie is moving to Arizona for a about nine or so months. I don't hang out with her all the time, but I know she's there and someone I trust and appreciate. She is such a strong person to me and an inspiration. I will miss going on walks with her and doing other fun things. It also reminds me an how unstable my life is. Friends come and go because they have their own lives. I think this is just a big transitional time for me with looking for a new job, hoping to move and live on my own when I get a new job, etc. It's hard when some of my base of people I rely on move. Carrie I will miss you, but I really do hope that you enjoy the change and it brings new opportunities.

What a fun party! I love your pumpkin!

I know what you mean about keeping the motivation. I just wrote a friend who lost 60 pounds a couple of years ago and has kept it off for more than a year. I asked her what she did to stay motivated, as it took her about a year to lose the weight. I will let you know her answers. I figured they might help me....
